PROGRESS ON VOLUME III
At the 2009 meeting of Tritt Family Research, we made a significant change in the content of Tritt Family Research III. It had originally been set to include Henry Treat/Tritt, the son of the 1739 immigrant, Christian Tritt, and his family. It was the unanimous decision of the group that we should make this volume a story of the whole family of Christian Tritt. This expands the volume to include what is known about the daughters of Christian, while still concentrating on the family and life of Henry Treat/Tritt. Daughters are, of course, much more difficult to trace, but Ernie Trait has enough material on them to give at least an introduction to their families. A majority of the book is already written. We have stories of all of Henry's children except Catharine Tritt Kline, on which I [Jane Ward] am working. Ernie is writing the chapter on Christian's daughters, Karen Scheffler is expanding on some of Ernie's research on John Trate, and Jeanette Miller is researching churches in Berks and Chester Counties, Pennsylvania, that are connected to this wing of the family. The completed parts include chapters on weaving and weavers in the family, some Tritt family clergy, Holtzschwamm Church in Paradise Township, York County, Pennsylvania, history of Paradise Township, as well as individual chapters on most of Henry's children. We have collected a number of good pictures of people and places and are particularly excited about using some color pages in this volume to give an idea of the vibrant colors in some of the family's woven coverlets. In addition, Wayne and Leonard Tritt have submitted some of their excellent maps. We are so blessed to have in this family a group of people with a great deal of talent and experience who are willing to share their many talents in the production of Volume III.
